The ports of Mykolaiv Region historically played a major role in Ukraine’s export of grain, ore, and metals. Since the onset of active hostilities, the region has been under constant threat, severely affecting port infrastructure. At present, most facilities are closed or operating under emergency conditions.

Mykolaiv Commercial Sea Port
Overview:
Formerly one of Ukraine’s key export hubs, handling bulk, general, and containerised cargo, with significant grain and metal export capacity.
Current status:
🔴 Closed to commercial navigation due to security risks. Port waters and approaches are within the conflict zone, subject to naval mines and restricted access.

Vessel and cargo loss due to hostilities, Crew safety threats, Restricted access for inspections, Operational disruption
Specialised Port Olvia (formerly Oktyabrsk)

Overview:
Specialised in bulk cargo, particularly grain. Depth limitations allow only vessels with shallow draft.
Current status:
🔴 Located in a frontline-adjacent zone, with operations almost entirely suspended. Extremely high risk of military activity near port facilities.
